The Great Continent of Meow

cats, pets, love of animals, party, music, sleep

Animals

animals

wherever I look

can’t move an inch

they’ve

conquered every

nook (and, cranny)

kitties sitting pretty

everywhere

you

look

except

in the other room with

lonely

‘ol

granny

who’s

looking

at

glossy

colored

pictures

in

a

cat

book.

I knew they

wanted me to

stand on

my head

to stare

and laugh

at

this foolish

old man

(who’s so darned lousy at math)

scratched my brow

got a bright idea

(and how!)

pulled out my flute

played their home song

straight

from the great continent of meow

to the tune of ding dong toot

they got up, blew their horns and danced

when they all spun around prancing

I claimed my side of the bed (groove) back

as they strapped on their party hats

holding their balloons

on a string

serving up wedges of tuna kitten cake

with wild salmon icing

licking bowls of cream

by the window

side

under the light of the

full

blue

moon

dancing through the night

such a wonderful scene

doggie wasn’t happy

bared his teeth

got pretty mean

(such a terrible sight)

talked him into

sleeping on my

side of the bed

on my pillow

instead

this grandiose

party played on

’til the cows

came home,

in

much

continued

but

stringent
