Sitting on the dock

sitting on the dock, watching sailboats, porpoise, flying fish, light house

I don’t have to have my own way

I am sitting on the dock watching the

sailboats

glide through the water

one is white wrapped

in a strip of blue

like a

ribbon on a gift

its sail catches

wind like a parachute

pulling it toward the

light house

the porpoise

is carefully streaming

by its

side

like a guide

through choppy water

No one has to tell the

seagulls above

what’s going on

below

when fish

fly out of

the water

and land on the

deck of the

wind powered

vessel

no, I didn’t have to have

my own way

today

all I have to do is

sit right here

and watch.
