Ex-patriot

This ex-patriot

was so proud

until he

felt a change within

himself.

it dawned upon him

his party never served

him well.

It had always

been about

everyone

but him.

it ‘welled’ up inside.

he couldn’t control

this feeling…

he felt so ‘illegal.’

it wasn’t so much they didn’t like him.

it was more accurate he didn’t like them,

because they didn’t

hold his core values

dearly.

not one iota.

he had no representation.

But, he was taxed to death,

nevertheless…

he turned into jello

and quivered upright in

a bowl in the darkness

of his lonely room

in which

its atmosphere

was no

longer

‘mellow’.

I must confess,

he addressed the officials

and they blatantly ignored him.

they trashed his emails like spam!

he had little recourse left.

no redress.

he knew it was time to move on.

and,

so he

did.

he

planned and planned

and did his research.

he saved his money.

he washed his trusty pick-up truck

first.

he added air to its tires

checked the oil

and radiator water.

he didn’t tire.

finally, he

packed up all his trinkets and wrinkled

belongings and threw them in the

back of the bed and fled

this Sodom and Gomorrah

on to its

snake like

angry

crowded freeway.

within hours

he would

be with those

brethren

he

theorized shared

his telltale ways.

with folded hands,

he

thanked god above…

this new oasis

would still be in the America’s

yet

hidden within its

component states.

once there,

it would be OK to

‘pray’ once again,

like in the ‘old days’.

So, I say

Goodbye,

and good riddance

forever…

I must

pull up roots

and flee before

they turn me into

one of them!

You lost my heart

and soul.

you lost my trust.

the ‘evil ones’ have taken over,

but not everywhere,

not yet.

there is still scattered light

in scattered unfamiliar places.

now,

my house is

but a stranger

to me.

So…

It’s off to

Arizona,

Nevada,

maybe

even

Texas…

did I hear

possibly

Idaho?

slightly

‘redder’

would be

better

than

living under

rule

of

the

dark

blue

mad

hatter…

farewell,

to

my

dear

old

home

of

sixty-six years!
