Elf

elf, weirdo, poetry, steven humphreys

coined

a weirdo

not for

lack of

a

hairdo

it’s clear

t  h  o  u  g  h

one thing

nothing’s never quite

enough to do

be bop pin round town

what else is there

for

old fools?

I’m not through

life ain’t

too rough

live on the cuff

rather be

some

bald headed

pointy eared

three

foot

e  l  f

out of

reach

out of touch

looking down at

thee

sittin’ on a branch

teetering

in Johnny’s

rotten

apple

tree

wiggling my toes

out

through these

worn out flip flops

don’t put me

on a shelf

I’ll only melt

I

know

it’s not midnight

yet

oh,

what else?

it’s

quarter to

three

(time for drinkin’ spiked up green elf tea)

sticking like glue

B  O  O

H  O O

l  a  t  e  l  y,

been

whistlin’

Dixie

(Oh, you do it too?)

like any other

pixie

(sittin’ up high in a tree?)

tit for tat

nothin’

else

better

doin’

these

politically

incorrect

days

than

that
