Candle

Thy candle wick

burns for you

white light

burning bright

dripping hot

wax

sealing

our

bond

our fate

a promise

tonight

power in its

glow

and glory

drawing you

nearer

moth to flame

old neon sign

greasy spoon

no plates

clank

coffee sits

cold

clouds

moon

misty night

pull over

to the side

empty street

look left

look right

idling car

smoky tailpipe

no destination

put it in drive

look straight ahead

G  O

watch the line

don’t cross over

no one but you

A  N  D

telephone poles

pass like rungs

in a ladder

the moon

in the sky

follows you

the windows are down

smell the new mown

hay

cows grazing

you saw

something

out there

pull over

S  T  O  P

step out

to the middle

of the road

stand there

look out

the white line

goes over

the horizon

things move

in the

dark

cornfield

a cat meows

a dog barks

something’s

happening

on this

wicked

wicked

night

footsteps

come

dead

leaves

crunch

the candle

man is dressed

in black

holding a

bougie

of yellow

hue

A  N  D

blue

halo

crows fly by

caws

echo

cackling

distant

windmills

turning

pinwheels

spinning

he stands

before you

red eyes

glowing

the

rushlight

burns

like a flaming

torch

for

we

have

been

judged
