Sometimes

sometimes, poetry, guilt, steven humphreys

sometimes

a blood relative

is not family

when

they use that

as license

to steal

from you

what doesn’t

belong to them

sometimes family

is someone you’ve

passed and said

‘hi’ to

never to see again

sometimes your real

father

mother

siblings

offspring

haven’t been found

yet

and you still

search

with an open

heart

the lovers

the broken-hearted

have but one

thing in common

both

drown their

sorrows

in

wine

certain things god

won’t help you with

no matter how hard

you pray

and you

will always wonder

why

forgiving

yourself

is always

the hardest

part

let go

of guilt

it is false love

you did your best

you need to go on

now

living life

the best

you

can
