Children

You loved

your children

the best you could

you tried to do all

those things

you thought were

right

that’s about all you

needed to do

you didn’t get loved back

and appreciated

as much as you deserved

I guess that’s kids for you

they get interested in other

things

not just

mom and dad

anymore

any guilt

should be let go

now’s the time

to release

but

you did do your job

as well as you could

under god’s sun and moon

it was what you were supposed to do

It’s not enough to be right

but

you were right all along

yes

you were

you went along with things

so they could be wrong

and make their own mistakes

and learn on their own

sometimes

you have to just sit and watch

when you are the one

who knows better

what the outcome

would be

for them

yet

if we are of god

can we not create

situations

circumstances

and things

out of need?

maybe

we

could

but maybe

we shouldn’t

do so

It is god’s work

best

leave it

up to

him

to

judge

children

grow

up

to be

just like

everyone

else

who was once

a child

no matter how

you raised them

they swing

in memory

under

a

rapidly

falling

curtain

of

dusk
