Standing still

standing still, poetry, steven humphreys

Standing still

between

good and

evil

we stand

tall

wearing

sultry

masks

of transition

end times

draw near

masks changing

by

their own

volition

hearts of

metal and clay

inch

toward

the

eternal

red button

which no one

returns

from

a chosen bitter destiny

striking

like

lightening

all

trodden

paths

erased

instantaneously

closing the doors

of time

into the blackest

darkness

and stillness

no man

has

ever seen

nor felt
