She awaits

she waits, love poem, poetry, steven humphreys

She awaits

her new name

it never comes

she looks

for that which

is not

nor

can never be

nor never will

yet somehow she

knows

somewhere

it lies in wait for

her

youth is passing

peace will

not come

she utterly resigns

watching

anticipating

holding on

by threads of her

own longing

she dreams of

that hollow name

a heaving heart

wistfully

burns

surging

deepening

fleeing like a mist

before the rising

sun
