Poetry as Long as it Takes

Paranoia is Real

as long as you were accurate

when you shouted

‘It’s not my fault, it just got let out of the box!’

That thing got leaked out

Provoking someone’s mind

causing it to riddle

and wince

cause’

when you flap your wings

landing in the promised land

Planet Oregon

You throw a Hobo hopping on a train

a warm frothy beer

and when he catches it he yells

back…

‘Tie all those a______s

to the whipping post

who invented ice cold coffee!

until they beg you to read them poetry

as long as it takes

for them to realize

you’re just passing time

selling tubs full of coffee and tea

playing video games and watching Portlandia

backed up against the checkered wall

telling

Portland

to stay weird

because, sure as s__t

the day you find out

your parents were no wiser

than you,

your tears will fall!’

then, the ghost in charge

grabs you by the arm

handing you a numbered card

rolling you underground

in a wheelchair

telling you

you damned well

better be as quiet as a mouse

and sit in that chair in the corner

over there

until that loud speaker

says

‘stiff number 59, come on down!’
