You Just have to Deal with it

You just have to deal with it

that thing called

those things you’d rather not

deal with

you put back on the shelf

they roll off

landing in your lap

Sometimes, you have to be

 your own Parent

 your own do-it-yourself

Snake Oil Salesman…

You try to control

but, never predict

take time for loved ones…

if my cat wants to play

at the stroke of every midnight

I make time for my little black and white boy

to flick that string

he catches in his paws

my dog wants to play at 3PM

every single day

I create time

to throw the tennis ball up in the air

so he can catch it

because it makes him

my family interrupts me as I type

I take my hands off the keyboard

giving them my full attention

without fuss

most of the time…

but, not always

when I feel I’m working

on something important

I tend to object…

but, in the end

nothing means more to me

than what I do for them

but, they don’t know

this thing I do keeps me

yet, they don’t like their favorite

TV program interrupted

and, I get those lectures

from both my girls

I’m the

what’s a fella’ to do?

at those unpleasant times

when you get those anxiety attacks

stuck in that gridlock

on that smoggy freeway

don’t fear that road rage

for, it was only

out in the middle

of a mixed up world

rowing your boat

in vain

alone in a dark stormy dream

of turbid water

you’d grow and change

into the person

you hoped you’d be
