Fine Line

You find

That fine line

sublime

when

you turn on TV

AGAIN

to that theatrical

mime

And, there he is

sitting behind that big

desk

looking at you

through those big

bifocals

with those piercing

 beady

dark glaring eyes

telling you all that bad crap

that’s been happening

all around the world

today

The level headed, psychos, the insensitive, intellectuals, and weirdos, etc.

I know I have run into many

idiots

even fewer angels

many more devils

Yes, the demons

no better than the

 so called do gooder

who seem to know

what’s best for you

these fools

perverts

and

serial killers

 trigger something in me

that

gets my goat

that churns my gut

I have some hell in me left

that breathes a mountain of fire

striking back when provoked

Stereotyping can be dangerous

Wars have been waged

solely

because

you can never convince a crazy man

to stop doing

insane

acts

of violence

against

his

fellow man

by reasoning

with him

so

we

have to

lock him up

while he laughs at our stupidity

as his hands shake cold steel bars

for feeding him

for the rest of his

miserable life

we are all so different

by degrees

subtleties

vastness of space

The human condition

persists

beyond the fine line

It got erased by

Freedom of Speech

Everything

is pushed to the limit

these days

There’s so many crybabies

whining

Better not look at anyone cross eyed anymore

Everybody is sue crazy

be careful what you say

be politically correct

Who can speak their mind?

Only the oddballs and fruitcakes

are allowed that luxury

these days

they get the podium

handed to them

to prop themselves up

because the media likes their style so much

they make them lots of money

because good news is not newsworthy

just like being middle of the road isn’t

but

You’ll get your pretty little face smashed in

even head

chopped off

depending upon where you currently

live

So, be very careful

what words you say

and, be sure you know

who you are talking to

when you say anything

you think is

funny

because it may not be so

humorous to

the next guy

who’s goanna be

coming for you

with a baseball bat

when you aren’t looking

where is the Fine line…

When there’s someone bleeding on the sidewalk

these days

no one helps

They just stand around them in a circle and gawk

looking down at you

while you bleed

then, they step over you

walking on

looking at their

text messages

they don’t want to get involved

because they have too much on their plates

to help anyone but themselves

Where did all the heroes go?

fine line

compassion

humanity

common sense

are all old fashioned words with

no

relevance

no real

meaning

antiquated

covered with dust

rotting away

to nothingness

throw them out!

because

The new truth becomes the same old lie

just like the new boss

is the same as

the old boss

Orwellian

is alive and well

Here

Now

Breathe it in

Fella

it’s yours to swim in

and yours to keep

savor it

because we all let it

slip right on in

we let it happen

to ourselves

and it’s too damned late

to change it

to do a god damned thing about it

who else can we blame?

Oh, I forgot

It’s the other guy’s fault

even though no one seems to be able

to pinpoint where that so called ‘other guy’

lives

who did us all so dirty…

because doing what is right

became only words

open to so many interpretations

it lost all meaning

so it’s

skimmed over

on a page

of worthless paper

with printed ink

that just blackens your

hands

blowing down

alleyways

full of stinking

overflowing

trash cans
